Allister

Allister was a pop punk band from Chicago, Illinois. The four-piece formed in 1996 and were one of the first bands to sign to Drive-Thru Records. Besides releasing three studio albums — 1999's ''Dead Ends and Girlfriends'', 2002's ''Last Stop Suburbia'', and 2005's ''Before the Blackout'' — Allister made a cameo appearance in the 2004 film ''Sleepover (2004 film)|Sleepover''. On March 6, 2007, the band announced their intention to go on hiatus.

History
Allister was formed in Chicago, Illinois under their original name Phineas Gage by high school classmates John Hamada (Singer|vocals/guitar) and Tim Rogner (vocals/Drum kit|drums) with Eric "Skippy" Mueller (Bass guitar|bass) in 1996. The following year, they changed their name to Allister, paying homage to Alasdair Gillis from the Canadian TV show ''You Can't Do That on Television''. Upon being submitted a short demo tape, Drive-Thru Records decided to put out their debut release: a 7 inch Gramophone record|vinyl record containing four songs, titled ''You Can't Do that on Vinyl'' (1998). Before the end of the year, Allister added another guitarist to the band, so Mueller took over guitar duties while Scott Murphy joined on bass.

In 1999, Drive-Thru Records released the band's full-length CD ''Dead Ends and Girlfriends'' with that very line-up. The catchy 32-minute album, which was record... read all

The 2008 Castle Fest offers a completely unique experience for metal fans and festival-goers in Europe.

On one side, it is a heavy metal festival of the highest order - featuring the metal world's most prominent superstars, greatest legends, and most exciting new bands on two state-of-the-art stages. On the other hand, Castle Fest is an experience like no other – unfolding on the grounds of a breathtaking 15th century Byzantine fortress in the Serbian town of Smederevo.

Just as Serbia has for centuries been a cultural crossroad where West and East meet, Castle Fest is, in a similar fashion, a perfect symbiosis of a sophisticated festival event of the most professional caliber and an Old World ambience, offering a unique experience to all who attend.
Smederevo is located 45 kilometers southeast of Serbia's capital Belgrade, making it easily accessible by bus and train lines. The expansive medieval fortress itself overlooks the right bank of the Danube River, accentuating the already impressive setting for an open-air metal festival of this size.

Serbia has recently, with other music festivals, gained a reputation as one of the best places for music lovers to spend their holidays, with many visitors lauding the inexpensive prices, delicious local cuisine and, last, but certainly not least (especially for metal fans), very affordable beer. One should not forget the intangibles – hospitality, politeness, friendless and sincerity that the Serbian people have gotten a reputation for having.

The bottom line, Castle Fest is not only South-Eastern Europe's largest exclusively metal music festival, it is an experience like no other – the experience of a lifetime.
