Amorphis is a Finland|Finnish heavy metal music|metal band started by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari and Esa Holopainen in 1990. Initially, the band was a straightforward death metal act, but in later albums they evolved into playing other types of genres.
Amorphis are well known for their use of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, as a source for their lyrics.
History
Formation and early years
In 1989, Jan Rechberger and Esa Holopainen played in a speed metal band Violent Solution, which Tomi Koivusaari had left the previous year to form up the death metal band Abhorrence. Violent Solution slowly withered away as the musicians involved became interested in other things and styles of music. At this point, Jan Rechberger and Esa Holopainen had the idea of putting together a death metal band. In early 1990, Tomi Koivusaari was asked to be the vocalist and Olli-Pekka Laine|Oppu Laine to be their bassist.
During that time the band asked Tomi to pick up the slot of rhythm guitarist as well as singing, which led to the band dumping all original compositions and starting all over again. With the band starting to move along, Tomi's other band (Abhorrence) split up and he found himself with much more time to put into Amorphis. Demo tape Disment Of Soul was recorded in 1991 by Timo Tolkki at TTT studios.

Where is the festival?
The location of Rockmaraton is in the Malomvölgy valley 8 kms south from Pécs, in a forest reserve between Kökénypuszta and Kökény, in a beautiful dell.
How do those find their way who come by car or motorcycle?
From the direction of Budapest on route 6, turning left on the bypass (bypassing the whole city) proceeding on route 58 towards Harkány-Siklós, turning right before Pogány Airport may one arrive at Kökénypuszta. From there the location of Rockmaraton is only 1 km far. (There is a sign helping you at every major junction)
From the West - the direction of Kaposvár, Szigetvár, Szentlőrinc - arriving at Pécs one has to turn right towads Pellérd. Proceed through Pellérd and turn left at the borders of Pellérd, then approx. 5 kms from there follow the Harkány sign. From this junction Rockmaraton is about 3 kms far.
From the South - the direction of Siklós, Harkány - one has to proceed on route 58, after Pogány Airport turn left at the "ROCKMARATON" sign, and you'll arrive in Kökénypuszta. The location is 1 km far from there.
How do those find the festival who come by train?
For those arriving by train, at the railway station an information booth will be waiting with a "ROCKMARATON" sign on it. There one can get all the information needed to get to the festival.
How do those find their way who come by bus?
From the bus station the DOMUS parking lot is only 200 meters, where an information booth will be waiting with a "ROCKMARATON" sign on it. There one can get all the information needed to get to the festival.
Camping:
It is free during the whole festival, though we do not take responsibility for valubales left in the tents.
The Malomvölgy valley is a reservation, so we ask you to be very careful with nature in the area. The festival will be held in case of bad weather as well. We live with our right to change the programs! We wish you a good time out there!

Nyt Qstock saa arvovaltaisia vieraita! Monet tunnistaa tämän yhtyeen erityisesti kantaaottavista sanoituksista ja lukuisista hiteistään mm.”If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”, ”A Design for Life”, ”Everything Must Go”, “Motorcycle Emptiness”, ”You Stole The Sun From My Heart”…
Alkujaan punk-yhtyeenä vuonna 1986 perustettu Manic Street Preachers on julkaissut uransa aikana 8 albumia. Kitaristi-sanoittaja Richey James Edwardsin salaperäisen katoamisen jäkeen julkaistut läpimurtoalbumit Everything Must Go(1996) sekä This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours(1998) kyyditsivät kuitenkin yhtyeen rock-klubeista stadioneille ja yhdeksi britannian kiistatta suurimmista rockbändeistä. Viimeisin vuonna 2007 julkaistu Send Away the Tigers –albumi osoittaa bändin luomiskyvyn olevan edelleen tasolla joka ei jätä paljon toivomisen varaa. Qstock on erityisen ylpeä saadessaan tuoda tämän yhtyeen Suomeen vuosia kestäneen odotuksen jälkeen!
Juhlat jatkuu tänä vuonna vielä viikko festivaalin jälkeenkin, kun Qstockin jälkikäyntiklubi pärähtää käyntiin Club Teatrialla perjantaina 1.8 Illan pääesiintyjänä lavalle nousee amerikkalainen W.A.S.P. joka kaikkien rakastaman Blackie Lawlessin johdolla sirkkelöi takuulla viimeisetkin löysät pois festarikansasta! Keikan lipunmyynnistä tiedotetaan myöhemmin.

Tervetuloa uusituille Qstock 2008 nettisivuille! Sivujen sisältö on vielä paikoin vajaavainen mutta ei hätää, päivitämme tietoa jatkuvasti. Samalla on myös julkaistu ensimmäinen erä kesän 2008 artisteja. Esiintyjiä voit tarkastella tarkemmin bändit-sivulta.

Within Temptation (NED) Oulun Qstockiin
Sinfonista ja tummasävyistä metallia soittava hollantilaisyhtye Within Temptation on ensi kesän Qstockin ensimmäinen ulkomaalaiskiinnitys. Julkaistuaan menestyksekkään The Heart of Everything -pitkäsoittonsa vuosi sitten Within Temptation on kiertänyt ahkerasti Eurooppaa, Japania ja Pohjois-Amerikkaa. Etelä-Amerikan vuoro on huhtikuussa.
Oululaisfestivaalin toinen ulkomaanesiintyjä on melodista death metalia paahtava Dark Tranquillity Ruotsista. Kotimaisista kärkinimistä tulonsa ovat varmistaneet Scandinavian Music Group, 22 Pistepirkko, Mokoma, Kotiteollisuus, YUP, Stam1na, PMMP, Ismo Alanko Teholla ja Sturm Und Drang.
Qstockin yhdessä kulttuuriyhdistys Trank ry:n kanssa pystyttämän Happiteltan anti painottuu tuttuun tapaan elektroniseen musiikkiin. Happiteltan esiintyjiä ovat muiden muassa Rex The Dog (UK), The Field(SWE) Eero Johannes, Komytea, 120Days(NOR) Artificial Latvamäki, Äänijännite ja Teatteri Airopik.
Qstock 2008:n aluejärjestelyihin on luvassa mittavia muutoksia. Uudistusten tavoitteena on parantaa festivaalikansan viihtyvyyttä ja palveluiden toimintaa. Uusista aluejärjestelyistä kerrotaan tarkemmin myöhemmin keväällä.
Järjestyksessään kuudes Qstock järjestetään Oulussa 25.-26. heinäkuuta. Festivaalin lipunmyynti alkaa touko-kesäkuun vaihteessa.
