The Hurricane Festival, also just Hurricane, is a music festival that takes place in Scheeßel near Bremen, Germany, usually every June. It is promoted by German private music television channel VIVA, which belongs to Viacom, the MTV Network's parent company, since the end of 2004. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Festival)
(http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southside)
In English:
The Southside Festival, also just Southside, is a music festival that takes place near Tuttlingen, southern Germany, usually every June. It is promoted by German private music television channel VIVA, which belongs to Viacom, the MTV Network's parent company, since the end of 2004. The festival and its guests are generally associated with the alternative part of mainstream music, although the festival has been becoming more and more mainstream over the years.
The Hurricane Festival, often referred to as the mother of Southside, takes place on the same three days in the very north of Germany (contrary to Southside, which is in the very south). Together they're a twin festival, since they are on the same days and usually have the same lineup with only few exceptions.
After the great success of the Hurricane Festival, FKP Scorpio decided to make a similar event in the south of Germany. 1999 a former military airbase in Neubiberg, near Munich, was selected. In 2000 the festival was moved to another former military airbase, this time in Neuhausen ob Eck, which is near Freiburg and Stuttgart.
Because of the relative proximity to other countries (France, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are all less than 100km away), the audience is very multinational. In 2003, the calculated maximum capacity of around 40.000 people was reached and the festival has been sold out well in advance since. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southside_Festival)

The festival based at Hildesheim has grown substantially since its recent beginning in 2000 and is now a fixture on the European festival landscape. The biggest European wave and gothic festival attracts about 25.000 fans every year to celebrate a melancholic-dark weekend. A fashionable outfit with a touch of medieval, maybe some PVC or leather is as popular as black clothing. Or white if necessary. Most fans show themselves in the same individual and artificial way as the artists on stage. Many of the famous bands and artists in the Wave and Gothic scene are not present for the first time at the M'ERA LUNA FESTIVAL. A new album release is not absolutely necessary for an appeareance at this festival. The audience often wishes for their favourite bands who they know well as well as for unknown newcomers.
