April March (real name Elinor Blake, born in California, April 20, 1965) is an American indie pop singer/songwriter who sings in English and French. She has also been a cartoon animator, including a stint as a principal animator for the Ren and Stimpy show. She lives in Ohio and is married to The Del Fuegos|Warren Zanes, musician and Vice-President of Education at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Biography
As a child March became fascinated with France, and in junior high participated in an exchange program in France. Her albums tend to contain songs in both English language|English and French language|French, which draw heavily on themes and styles from French 1960s pop music.
Beginning in the early 1980s, March worked as an animator for Archie Comics and Pee Wee's Playhouse; in 1986 she worked on the Madonna (entertainer)|Madonna feature ''Who's That Girl (film)|Who's That Girl'', animating the star in the title sequence and the contemporaneous music video. Her first band, The Pussywillows, was formed in 1987; March took a year off to attend the The Walt Disney Company|Disney-founded Character Animation program at the California Institute of the Arts.
