Arch Enemy is a Sweden|Swedish melodic death metal band, formed in 1996 by Carcass (band)|Carcass guitarist Michael Amott along with Johan Liiva, both originally from the influential death metal band Carnage (band)|Carnage. The band has released seven studio albums, a live album, three Extended play|EPs, and a DVD (Live Apocalypse). The band was originally fronted by Johan Liiva; frontwoman Angela Gossow joined as lead vocalist in 2001.

Arch Enemy, the brainchild of Michael Amott (Carcass (band)|Carcass, Carnage (band)|Carnage and Spiritual Beggars) was originally assembled when Michael Amott left Carcass. Guitarists Michael Amott and younger brother Christopher Amott (Armageddon (band)|Armageddon) joined forces with vocalist Johan Liiva (ex-Carnage, Furbowl, Furbowl|Devourment) and then-session drummer Daniel Erlandsson (Eucharist (band)|Eucharist) in what Michael Amott called "an attempt to merge melody with aggression and technicality."
The band's debut, entitled ''Black Earth (Arch Enemy)|Black Earth'', was released by the now defunct Wrong Again Records in 1996. It obtained a fair amount of success in Japan, achieving MTV rotation with their first single "Bury Me an Angel", as well as moderate success in Sweden. Like before, Metalcamp is going to take place in the beautiful Julisch Alps (Julijske Alpe) national park. The festival ground is situated on a peninsula between the turquoise mountain rivers Socca (Soča) and Tolminka.

Um ano depois de o Festival Marés Negras ter monopolizado a cidade do Porto, com uma maratona de seis horas de música, especialmente pensada para os seguidores do metal, chegou a vez de Carcavelos receber este movimento naquele que é o seu segundo acto. Com o intuito de descentralizar e permitir a todos o acesso a uma sonoridade com cada vez mais adeptos em Portugal, o agora denominado ALLIANCE FEST ocupa-se do Pavilhão dos Lombos, para apresentar, dias 8 e 9 de Agosto, um cartaz recheado de bandas com provas dadas na cena underground nacional e internacional.
Com o mesmo conceito do Marés Negras - de proporcionar, à semelhança de outros festivais de Verão, um evento onde os fãs de sonoridades mais sombrias possam ver ao vivo as suas bandas de eleição – o ALLIANCE FEST pretende ser o maior festival de metal de Portugal. Ao longo de dois dias, 8 e 9 de Agosto, a organização espera receber 5.000 mil pessoas no Pavilhão dos Lombos de Carcavelos, um espaço adaptado ao pormenor para que este se confirme como um evento marcante e sem precedentes no nosso país.
Arch Enemy (SW), Anathema (UK), Marduk (SW), Exodus (USA) e 3 Inches of Blood (CA) são as primeiras confirmações internacionais que se juntam aos portugueses We Are the Damned, Echidna, Blacksunrise e Shadowsphere no cartaz do ALLIANCE FEST, mas esperam-se mais. Nos próximos dias a organização vai anunciar o restante alinhamento que se prevê revelador da credibilidade que os fãs de metal têm ajudado o nosso país a conquistar junto dos grandes a nível mundial. Do speed ao thrash, do black ao death, o ALLIANCE FEST traz a Portugal as bandas mais desejadas deste Verão.
