Beanie founded the group and label State Property (Group)|State Property, as well as the clothing company of the same name.
Sigel's name derives from the street in South Philadelphia where he was raised, Sigel Street. It is also a play on the name of the famous gangster, Bugsy Siegel. He is also referred to as the Broad Street Bully and Beans.
Early career
Beanie Sigel signed with Roc-A-Fella and showed up across the board. Before any album of his own, he appeared on Dj Clue? Mixtapes and also on the Jay-Z Hard Knock Life album. One of Sigel's first official appearances on the label was on a remix for the Jay-Z song called, "Money, Cash, Hoes", the remix titled, "More Money, More Cash, More Hoes", featuring Memphis Bleek and DMX. It was a posse cut to get the Roc family started. Sigel was also appearing with Memphis Bleek on Coming of Age.
