Biography
Carrie Newcomer was born in Dowagiac, MI and raised in Elkhart, IN. She attended Goshen College from 1977-1979 and received a B.A. in visual art and education from Purdue University in 1980. From 1982-1988 she was a member of the folk music|folk group Stone Soup<ref>{{cite web | title = Stone Soup | publisher = AllMusic | url = http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:dpfixqq5ldde | format = HTML | accessdate = 2008-03-19</ref> independently releasing two recordings.
Between 1984 -1989 Newcomer toured regionally, after 1990 she has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, gaining increased attention after touring with Alison Krauss and Union Station in Europe and parts of the United States.
