Hot Chip

Hot Chip is a United Kingdom|British electropop band. They have released three studio albums—''Coming on Strong'', ''The Warning,'' and ''Made in the Dark''. ''The Warning'' was named Album of the Year by ''Mixmag'' and voted the fourth best album of 2006 by ''NME''. They released their third studio album, ''Made in the Dark'', in February 2008. ''Mixmag'' have already awarded it the title Album of the Month in their January 2008 issue.

History
Hot Chip formed in 2000, though members Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard had previously worked together and had been in the same sixth form at Elliott School (London)|Elliott School in Putney, London. In an interview, Goddard said that early Hot Chip music was written like sixth-form poetry, with acoustic guitars. After years of self-releasing records, they signed with Moshi Moshi in 2003 and released their debut LP ''Coming on Strong'' in 2004. Soon after this they started working on their second album and signed a US record deal with DFA Records, who re-released their debut album in late 2005.

Eine wohltuend "andere" Band sind sie, die fünf Eklektizisten um die beiden Schulfreunde Alexis Taylor und Joe Goddard. Ihr zweites Album "The Warning", das 2006 erschien, wurde für den Mercury Prize nominiert und nicht zuletzt dank der Hitsingle "Over and Over" sogar vergoldet, was die Verkaufszahlen anging. Selten hat eine Band so gekonnt 2Step Garage Clubsound mit Rockelementen und Elektronik zu derart zwingenden Popsongs zusammengeschweißt.

Jetzt ist der dritte Longplayer im Kasten und will live gespielt werden - schließlich ist er auch auf Welt-Tournee entstanden, quasi "Made In The Dark", wie dann auch der Titel lautet.
