Katatonia is a Swedish metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse (formerly Lord Seth) and Anders Nyström (formerly Blakkheim). The early Katatonia albums are noted for the overall melancholy of their sound, often giving them the classification of doom metal or dark metal. Katatonia's more recent albums have progressed to a wider sound, with modern overtones, dropped guitars, symphonic synths and arrangements, alternative sounds and generally heavier riffs.
Opeth's Mikael Ã…kerfeldt performed the growling vocals on ''Brave Murder Day'' and ''Sounds of Decay'' after regular Katatonia singer (and then drummer) Jonas Renkse became unable to scream properly. During this time, the band decided to change their sound to a more soft sound with clean vocals beginning with 1998's ''Discouraged Ones''. This shift in instrumental tone and vocal style was accompanied by an appreciable decrease in the length of the band's songs, with latter period songs typically lasting around four minutes.
Katatonia has released two compilations. En total fueron 200 litros / m2 los que cayeron en la ciudad y han ocasionado unos daños de aproximadamente 20 millones de euros. Estos daños junto con los trabajos que están llevando a cabo los peritos de las compañías de seguro, hacen que sea imposible que el festival Atarfe Vega Rock se desarrolle el día 1 de diciembre en la plaza de toros y alrededores, tal y como estaba previsto.
Nos hemos reunido con el alcalde y autoridades locales, para expresarles nuestra preocupación por lo que estaba ocurriendo y para obtener una respuesta sobre esta situación. Siempre nos han insistido que el festival no se puede llevar a cabo, algo que tenemos que respetar para asegurar la seguridad de los asistentes, bandas y trabajadores del festival.
Se ha buscado una ubicación alternativa en la ciudad, pero nuevamente por motivos de seguridad ha sido totalmente imposible encontrar otro emplazamiento en Atarfe. Incluso hemos estudiado hacerlo en otra localidad, pero no se ha encontrado un lugar apropiado, tal que se pudiera realizar una producción de garantía tal y como el festival requiere, teniendo en cuenta el poco tiempo que queda para la fecha anunciada.
Tras haber estudiado infructuosamente otras alternativas y tras haber llegado a un acuerdo con el Ayuntamiento de Atarfe y con las bandas ya confirmadas, se ha decidido aplazar el festival hasta marzo de 2008.
Salvo problemas de agenda, contamos con todos y cada uno de los grupos confirmados hasta la fecha, así como con otra serie de grupos que completarán el cartel.
En lo que respecta a la gente que ha adquirido su entrada, recibirán el importe íntegro en los puntos de venta donde comprasen su entrada. Os agradecemos mucho vuestra fidelidad y confianza.
A aquellas personas que hayan comprado un billete de avión para asistir al festival, también queremos compensarlas. Es por ello que podrán entrar gratuitamente al festival en marzo, y además les obsequiaremos con tickets de consumiciones. Para ello, es necesario que se nos envíe a la dirección del correo del festival el comprobante de la reserva del vuelo.
Sentimos y mucho las molestias que este aplazamiento os pueda causar, pero nadie esperaba que un desastre natural de tal magnitud pudiera tener lugar en Atarfe. Es por ello que pedimos vuestra comprensión.
Nosotros somos los primeros afectados, con una serie de bandas que estaban contratadas, pero que afortunadamente han entendido este contratiempo y han accedido a tocar en marzo. Del mismo modo son muchos los vuelos internacionales que habíamos comprado, y de los que nadie hará uso, y por ello tendremos que adquirir nuevos billetes para que las bandas puedan venir en marzo.
Nuevamente os pedimos vuestra comprensión por lo ocurrido, ya que este contratiempo está fuera del control de la organización del festival y de cualquier persona.

2. 21th anniversary Schizoid Boat - Mellotronen Festival 2008 on 8 Mar 2008
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
FREDRIK THORDENDAL from MESHUGGAH will join MATS & MORGAN ALL STAR TEAM on the boat. They will perform songs from his SOL NIGER WITHIN album!!! A historic moment!!!!
IA EKLUND from FREAK KITCHEN is also in the band so fans of solid guitarwork will get a real HARD ON on the boat!!!
The party will take place over 40 hours on the largest ferry on the Baltic Sea, the Silja Symphony, a 204m luxury cruiser equipped with sauna and swimming pool facilities, cabins complete with showers, a shopping galleria, 8-10 bars and restaurants, and apart from the fantastic lineup of bands, there will also be an international music convention in the conference area, which is over 1000 square meters.
The ferry will be leaving at 17:00 on Saturday 8th March, and will be returning to Stockholm 09:30 on Monday 10th March, with a 7 and a half hour stop in Helsinki, during which a mini film festival will be held on the boat by Klubb Super 8 (for those wishing to remain onboard).
The age restriction for the cruise is 18, which is a special concession as the age limit for weekend cruises is normally 23. Ceux qui ont eu peur de ne pas voir se profiler une affiche "brutale" sont servis (et c'est loin d'être terminé) ! Comme nous vous l'avions promis le HELLFEST tient à garder sa ligne de conduite, le metal extrême est sa priorité, black, thrash, death, grind seront donc les styles les plus en vue cette année ! Mais ce n'est pas tout ! Une pincée de punk, de hardcore, de doom, de dark, de heavy, d'indus, de prog, de pagan...pour une affiche qui sera la plus éclectique que nous n'ayons jamais sortie !
Ce ne sera donc pas un simple chevauchement de têtes d'affiche comme dans beaucoup d'autres festivals, le hellfest prend des risques...le risque d'être unique et indépendant ! Les vrais fans ne s'y tromperont pas, la qualité sera au rendez vous !

At last ! The new line up of confirmed artists for the next Hellfest "Metal Edition" that will take place on the 20^th , 21^st and 22^nd of june 2008 in Clisson, France !
Those who were worried that the line up would not be “brutal” should stop worrying. We want to keep Extreme Metal a priority : Black, Thrash, Death and Grind will therefore, take pride of place this year. But that’s not all! A pinch of punk, hardcore, doom, dark, heavy, Industrial and Prog will mean the most eclectic bill ever !
Not just a string of headliners like other festivals - Hellfest takes risks! Real fans can’t go wrong. Quality is the key-word.
