Marco Borsato

Marco Roberto Borsato (born on December 21, 1966 in Alkmaar, the Netherlands), is one of the best known Netherlands|Dutch singers.{{Fact|date=May 2008 Marco Borsato previously performed in Italian language|Italian, but wasn't recognised by the mainstream public until he switched to Dutch in 1994.

Biography
Marco was born in the Wilhelmina Hospital in Alkmaar as the son of Roberto Borsato and Mary de Graaf. The family moved to Italy, where the father started up a restaurant in Garda (Italian commune)|Garda. Marco spent a significant amount of time in Italy and speaks fluent Italian. The family is composed of another son Armando, and a daughter Sylvana.

Marco debuted as a singer after he won the Dutch Soundmixshow programme on April 7, 1990 with his rehearsal of the song ''At This Moment'' by Billy Vera.

Other functions
Marco Borsato is an ambassador of the Dutch NGO War Child (charity)|War Child, which helps children in (post)conflict areas to cope with their war experiences.
