Thrice is an United States|American band from Irvine, California. The group was founded in 1998 by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school.<ref name=AOL>{{cite web|url=http://music.aol.com/artist/thrice/biography/1437159|title=Thrice Biography |accessdate=2007-12-16|publisher=AOL Music</ref>

Early in their career, the band was known for their "powerful, driving beats and buzz-saw riffs,"<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.interpunk.com/item.cfm?Item=79136&|title=The Illusion of Saftety|accessdate=2007-12-16|publisher=Interpunk</ref> mainly due to the release of their second LP album|LP, ''The Illusion of Safety'' (2002).
